1.2.2 Key Operational Registrations and Licenses:
To legally operate programs and engage with communities, DSGII maintains registration with other relevant government bodies:
- Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD): As an organization primarily engaged in social welfare and development programs (e.g., community organizing, livelihood assistance, disaster response support), DSGII is registered and licensed by the DSWD. This registration attests to our administrative, technical, and financial capability to operate social welfare and development programs and services.
- This includes fulfilling requirements such as providing profiles of our governing board and employees, work and financial plans, annual accomplishment reports, and audited financial statements.
- Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR): DSGII is registered with the BIR to obtain its Tax Identification Number (TIN) and to comply with all tax obligations as a non-profit entity.
- We apply for a Certificate of Tax Exemption (TER) under Section 30 of the National Internal Revenue Code (NIRC), confirming our non-profit status and potentially exempting us from income tax on activities related to our primary purpose.
- We comply with all required annual income tax returns, even if exempt, and other applicable tax filings (e.g., withholding taxes, if employees).
- Local Government Units (LGUs): DSGII secures the necessary permits and clearances from the local government units where our principal office (Bacnotan, La Union) and project sites are located.
- This includes obtaining a Barangay Clearance from our principal office’s barangay and a Mayor’s Permit from the relevant city/municipal hall annually.
- We comply with all local ordinances related to our operations.
